Arunachal Pradesh has a rich and varied history that intertwines with the ancient cultures of Tibet and Bhutan. The region has been home to indigenous tribes for centuries, each with its own unique customs and traditions. Historically, Arunachal was part of the greater Tibetan Buddhist influence, with Tawang Monastery being one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist sites in India. During the British colonial period, the region was part of the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and played a strategic role due to its proximity to Tibet and China. In 1972, NEFA was renamed Arunachal Pradesh and later gained full statehood in 1987. Today, the state stands as a guardian of India’s northeastern border, rich in culture, natural resources, and spiritual heritage.
